About
Mountain Vespers
Mountain Vespers was written by long-term staffer Kent Gustavson while living at Holden Village between 2000-2002. He composed both the lyrics and music for the service, including an adaptation of the Prayer of Good Courage, which is beloved by Holdenites, and is used for their long-term staff farewells. Many fellow community members helped with the first performances of the liturgy, including Micah Schonberg, Jeshua Erickson, Callista Brown, Paul Friesen-Carper, Gary Sontum, Kent Narum, and countless others. Ben Stewart, who was Village Pastor at the time, assisted with the liturgical texts. Over the past twenty-plus years, the service has been continually used at Holden Village, and is now in regular rotation within church communities around the world. To use the service with your own congregation, download it above, and reach out below to license it for use.
